FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Fairmont Police Department’s Three Rivers Drug Task Force, in collaboration with the Mon Metro Drug Task Force, conducted a large-scale drug bust on June 16th, 2025.

This coordinated law enforcement operation resulted in the execution of nine search warrants across Marion and Monongalia Counties. The operation targeted a Detroit, Michigan-based drug trafficking organization operating in the North Central West Virginia region.

During the searches, law enforcement seized the following:

  • 21.5 lbs. of crystal methamphetamine
  • 17 lbs. of fentanyl
  • 2.5 lbs. of crack cocaine
  • 2.2 lbs. of cocaine HCl
  • $13,715 in U.S. currency
  • 30 firearms (multiple were reported stolen)
  • A large quantity of ammunition

Of the 17 pounds of Fentanyl seized, over 16 pounds of the total were seized from a residence located in Fairmont.  This is the largest single seizure recorded in Marion County.

The operations included collaboration from West Virginia State Police Special Response Team (SRT) North, Morgantown Police Department SRT, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department SRT, DEA Louisville Division SRT, DEA Clarksburg, FBI Clarksburg, and ATF Clarksburg.

“We will not tolerate this type of activity in Fairmont, Marion County, or anywhere in the state,” Chief of Police Steve Shine said. “By dismantling this dangerous drug trafficking organization, our local law enforcement officers have removed thousands of lethal doses before being able to reach individuals within our community.”
