[ARCHIVED] Letters of Interest being accepted for Municipal Court Judge Vacany

Municipal Court Judge Vacancy Notice

A vacancy in the position of Municipal Judge for the City of Fairmont has occurred due to the sudden passing of the Hon., Anthony Julian, Judge, on Monday, July 18, 2022.  Section 4.03 of the City Charter provides that:  “In the event of the death . . . . of the Municipal Judge, the Council shall appoint a person similarly qualified to serve as the Municipal Judge for the unexpired term within  fifteen days.”  

 

Per Section 4.03 of the Charter, the municipal judge “shall be an attorney in good standing of the Marion County Bar.”   The current unexpired term will expire on June 30, 2025.  

 

The City of Fairmont is accepting letters of interest and resumes of interested qualified attorneys until Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., time being of the essence.  Resumes and letters of interest may be emailed to Janet Keller, City Clerk, at jkeller@fairmontwv.gov  or Valerie Means, City Manager at vmeans@fairmontwv.gov or presented to the City Clerk or City Manager on the Third Floor of the City County Complex, J. Harper Meredith Building, 200 Jackson Street, Fairmont, WV 26554, during regular business hours, or otherwise delivered to the Clerk or City Manager by any other means reasonably calculated to ensure receipt by the above stated deadline.   Any resume or letter of interest received after the above stated deadline shall be rejected and shall not be considered.   

 

In accordance with the Charter, the Council of the City of Fairmont will act to appoint a municipal judge for the current unexpired term at its regular meeting to be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., in Council Chambers, 500 Quincy Street, Fairmont, West Virginia, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard.
