The City of Fairmont has a Council-Manager form of government. The Council shall be the governing authority of the City and shall appoint the City Manager who shall execute the laws and administer the government of the City.
The City is divided into nine voting districts in which districts shall be established by Council by ordinance and changed from time to time to reflect population changes. Therefore, the City of Fairmont has nine (9) Councilmembers.
Only qualified voters of the City shall be eligible to hold the office of Councilmember. Each Councilmember shall, at the time of his or her announcement for office and during the term of office, reside within the district from which they were elected or appointed. The terms of a Councilmember shall be four (4) years and in no event shall any Councilmember serve more than two (2) consecutive full four-year terms.
The Council shall elect, at the first meeting of a new Council, one of its members to serve as Mayor. The Mayor shall preside at all meetings of the Council, shall be recognized as head of the City government for all ceremonial purposes but shall have no administrative duties.
City Council meetings are held at 7:00 PM on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers of the Public Safety Building located at 500 Quincy Street. Born (1939) raised in Wheeling - Wheeling Jesuit University (1961) - WVU, Master's in Social Work (1963): early professional work in Charleston, Philadelphia, Morgantown (child welfare and mental health): career/retirement as Correctional Administrator 1968 to 1995 (FCI Morgantown): Marion County Chamber of Commerce (1997-98): Farimont Community Development Partnership (1998-present), presently serving as Executive Director.
Robert Gribben currently serves as a member of the Fairmont Urban Renewal Authority and was privileged to have served on the Fairmont's Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. He recently assisted with reinvigorating Operation Image and has long term commitments with 612 MAC, Fairmont Main Street, Democratic Men's Club, the Rotary Club, and Hope Inc.

Travis was born and raised in Fairmont, WV. He is a graduate of East Fairmont High School and a current student at Pierpont Community & Technical College studying Accounting. He works in the banking sector as the Collections Officer for BC Bank, Inc. headquartered in Philippi, WV with branch locations in Nutter Fort and Fairmont. His primary focus is working to help Fairmont grow and develop and become a better place to work, live and do business.

William (Bill) Burdick

Bill was elected to a two year term as Mayor in January 2011. He and wife Marjorie have been married for 26 years. They belong to Highland Ave. United Methodist Church. Bill is a member of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce. He is on the Board of Directors for Main Street Fairmont, Fairmont Community Partnership, Region VI Workforce WV, and the Municipal League of WV. Bill enjoys running, so you may see him all over Fairmont putting in the miles.
